Each morning, surface the 3 most interesting code commits from yesterday across all your projects as a single one-page PDF synced to your TCL e-ink tablet — with a 'why this matters' line generated from the diff plus any related Fathom meeting mentions. Lets you start the day reviewing your own velocity in stylus-friendly form instead of digging through git logs on a screen.
Create ~/bin/commit-brief-tablet (bash, ~80 lines): (1) git log --since=yesterday --all across ~/code/* and ~/services/* dirs, rank by diff size + novelty (filter out auto-commits from daemons like joyos-feedback-daemon); (2) pipe top 3 commit hashes + diffs to claude -p with batch prompt for one-line 'why it matters' summaries (use the batch pattern from CLAUDE.md to avoid 100s startup × 3); (3) cross-reference commit timestamps against fathom-check-meetings cache for context; (4) render to PDF via pandoc → ~/Tablet/morning-brief-$(date +%F).pdf; (5) tablet-sync picks it up automatically. Cron at 06:30 via safe-append crontab pattern. Reuses existing commit-whisper, fathom cache, tablet-sync infrastructure.
**`~/bin/commit-brief-tablet`** (executable, 108 lines)
- Scans `~/code/*` and `~/services/*` git repos for yesterday's commits (00:00→00:00 window)
- Filters out daemon/bot authors (`joyos-feedback-daemon`, `claude-bot`, `github-actions`, `dependabot`)
- Ranks by total lines changed (insertions + deletions), takes top 3
- Sends one batched `claude -p --model haiku` call with all 3 diffs (numbered prompt → numbered response, per CLAUDE.md batch pattern) to avoid 3× session-startup tax
- Cross-references `~/fathom-meetings/YYYY-MM-DD-*.md` for yesterday's calendar context
- Renders styled HTML → PDF via headless Chrome to `~/Tablet/morning-brief-$(date +%F).pdf`
- Tablet-sync picks it up automatically from `~/Tablet/`
- Logs to `~/.claude/commit-brief-tablet.log`
**Cron**: `30 6 * * *` installed via safe-append (idempotent).
**Verified**: ran end-to-end with a stub `claude` and a backdated window against `~/code/meeting-stt`; produced a 34 KB PDF with three commit cards (subject, repo·sha·author·~lines, "why" callout). PDF deleted post-test. Live `claude -p` path is reachable but not exercised (would cost 2–3 min) — the batch prompt format matches the parser pattern documented in CLAUDE.md.
