Socratic Reflection → Tablet Morning Brief

What was built

Each night, harvest the day's git commits across active projects and turn them into 3-5 Socratic journaling prompts auto-delivered as a PDF to the TCL e-ink tablet by 6am. Ethan already has commit-to-linkedin-whisper and socratic-reflection-harvester — this stitches them into a stylus-ready morning ritual without opening a laptop.

How it works

Create ~/bin/socratic-tablet-brief: (1) collect last 24h commits via `git -C log --since=yesterday --format='%s'` across ~/active-projects; (2) batch-prompt claude -p with the existing Socratic template from socratic-morning-brief to get N reflection questions in one call (avoids the 100s/call trap); (3) render to PDF via pandoc with large e-ink-friendly type (24pt, wide margins for stylus); (4) drop into ~/Tablet/morning-brief/$(date +%F).pdf so tablet-sync picks it up; (5) cron at `0 5 * * *` on desktop with PATH fix. Reuses morning-tablet-brief's PDF styling and tablet-sync-api's existing sync path.

Tested end-to-end: harvested 5 commits from 48 repos, batched into one `claude -p --model haiku` call, rendered a 31KB PDF in ~23s, and tablet-sync fires async.

**Design notes**
- **Repo discovery:** prefers `~/active-projects/*/.git` if you curate it, otherwise auto-falls-back to `~/<proj>/.git` — works on day 1, narrows once you make the dir.
- **Single batched LLM call** with numbered output (per CLAUDE.md's 100s-startup gotcha) and a partial-parse fallback per row if a number is missing.
- **E-ink-friendly PDF**: 24pt Georgia, 1.25in × 1.5in margins, four ruled lines per prompt, page-break-inside avoid.
- **Em-dash rule** baked into the prompt (no em dashes in generated copy).
- **Zero-commit guard:** exits 0 silently if no commits in window, so cron stays quiet on rest days.
- **Capped at 5 prompts** to keep the morning ritual scannable.

Run it manually any time with `socratic-tablet-brief`; cron will fire it at 5am.
