Timer Blast Radius Map

August 18, 2026

Ethan runs hundreds of systemd timers and daemons, but nothing shows which ones would go silent together when a shared dependency breaks (e.g. the gws CLI, the mail daemon, stdb, or tablet-sync). This builds a static dependency graph by grepping every unit's ExecStart script for shared commands/endpoints, then emails a weekly 'blast radius' card ranking dependencies by how many automations die with them — turning invisible single points of failure into a ranked fix list.

Create ~/.local/bin/blast-radius-map: (1) `systemctl list-units --type=service,timer --all --no-legend` plus `systemctl cat` to resolve each unit's ExecStart script path; (2) for each script, grep for a fixed dependency vocabulary — `gws `, `stdb `, `tablet-sync.braceyourself.solutions`, `send-formatted-email`, `jobq`, `llmq`, `telegram-notify`, `pass `, `docker `, `ollama` — and emit `depunit` pairs into ~/.local/state/blast-radius/edges.tsv; (3) sort|uniq -c to rank deps by dependent count, flagging any dep with >10 dependents and no corresponding *-healthcheck or *-heartbeat-alarm unit as CRITICAL-UNGUARDED; (4) render a markdown card and pipe to `send-formatted-email` weekly, plus drop a copy in ~/Tablet/ for e-ink review. Wire with a systemd timer (blast-radius-map.timer, Sun 07:00) alongside the existing timer-health-audit.
